COVID-19 Updates

A message from the owners (regarding updated COVID-19 Policies):

On June 17, 2021, the CDC announced that people that are fully vaccinated can resume activities like prior to the pandemic.

As a veterinary community,  we have been hit very hard by COVID in a different way; with a shortage of people within our profession, and an overwhelming increasing pet population, we have been struggling to keep up with the needs in our community. Our business operates differently than others; we have small exam rooms and often long wait times - to be completely transparent, curbside/drop off service as we have been offering it has made us more efficient.

We understand the anxiety that can come with having a sick pet and the worry that can happen when you drop a pet off at the hospital. We care about your pet as a FAMILY. Therefore on Monday, July 5, we will be modifying our COVID protocol.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE TO THE HOSPITAL, CALL 412-998-9030 to check in. We ask that you remain in your car to minimize a crowded waiting room. A technician will then call you when your exam room is ready. You and a family member may accompany your pet in the room for the remainder of the visit. If you are non vaccinated, a mask is mandatory; it is highly encouraged for everyone.

Out staff has been fully vaccinated and hope this is a positive step to improve your experience at Rivers Veterinary Urgent Care. Since we opened during the pandemic, bear with us as we adjust to this change as well.

We are still offering drop off appointments for convenience. We will try to be as accurate as possible regarding the wait time of a same day/walk in appointment, but it is often hours. If you would like to leave your pet with us, Our doctors would be more than happy to do your visit over the phone.

We are excited to welcome you into our new building !

Dr. Thornton and Dr. Dutra
